Manchester City are gunning for their fourth Premier League title on the bounce – but the shadow of their 115 financial fair play charges still hang over their heads.
City were charged last February, as Pep Guardiola’s side were experiencing a poor run of form. However, after the charges, City kicked into gear and went onto claim a historic treble after beating Inter Milan in Istanbul.
And City’s new Netflix documentary, Together: Treble Winners, which was released on Tuesday (April 2), sheds new light on how Guardiola rallied his troops after the charges. “I need to talk to you. Come here,” Pep said ahead of a clash with Aston Villa.
“First, every single game now, starting today, when we are together before the referee starts the game. You hug each other, the players, in the centre circle close to the referee and the opponents.
“And someone, it doesn’t matter, you start to talk one, two, three and say it in the eyes that we are going to win every single game, or at least we are going to try.
