Raheem Sterling believes Jack Grealish is a ‘great player’ amid reports that the pair could be reunited at Chelsea this summer. Sterling left Manchester City when his spot in Pep Guardiola’s starting XI came under threat, and Grealish could look to do the same after an underwhelming third season at the Etihad Stadium.
Ditching City for Chelsea has yielded mixed results since Todd Boehly’s takeover in 2022. While Cole Palmer has been a roaring success under Mauricio Pochettino, Sterling has once again failed to hit the heights he did in Manchester.
Grealish could become the next player to try his luck after a report from Chelsea journalist Simon Phillips claimed that the Londoners have ‘internally discussed’ launching a move for the £100million man.
Although he played an important role in City’s stunning treble win last season, Grealish has made a limited impact this term with only four goal contributions in the Premier League.
If the 28-year-old heads to Chelsea, he could provide direct competition in wide areas for Sterling, who made his feelings clear on Grealish when City signed him from Aston Villa in 2021 for what was a Premier League record fee at the time.
“[City] have signed a great player and someone that wants to prove himself at the highest level,” Sterling told Man City’s official website. “I don’t think there is any better club for him to try and do that.
“I met him at Villa, but during the international period it was the first time I was really around him for a long period of time. He is a player that always wants the ball, he gets in good pockets of space and he is creative.
