Boehly said of his team’s style of play in recent games that it was “exactly the way we drew it up”.
Chelsea owner Todd Boehly says things are “coming together” on the pitch for his team as he shared his views on their recent turnaround in form.
The Blues have had a mixed season in Mauricio Pochettino’s first campaign in charge at Stamford Bridge.
They will finish the campaign trophyless for a second consecutive season after slipping to a heartbreaking defeat to Liverpool in the League Cup, while they lost to Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-finals.
Pochettino found himself under some pressure following Chelsea’s 5-0 thrashing to London rivals Arsenal last month, but his team have bounced back in style and are unbeaten in their last three league matches.
Chelsea recovered from 2-0 down to rescue a draw at Aston Villa and they followed that result up with a 2-0 win over Tottenham and a 5-0 thumping of West Ham.
Pochettino’s side are now in seventh place in the league table with three matches remaining as they look to compete with Newcastle and Manchester United for the final European spot for next season.
Speaking at a Sportico conference in Los Angeles, Boehly was full of praise for his team’s recent run of results.
“We’ve seen the last two and a half games, at least in the second half at Aston Villa [2-2 draw] and Tottenham and West Ham where we played just beautiful football,” he said.
“It was so fluid, it was exactly the way we drew it up, when we came out of the back, built up and moved up the pitch, [it was] very organised and the number of shots we had on board.
“In those two and a half games, you could really start to see what we were working on coming together.
“Even the commentary has changed over the last two and a half games. I’ve never seen anything change so quickly.”
Boehly’s words may soothe the ears of Pochettino, who has faced criticism for the team’s performances this season and questions about whether he is the right man for the job at Stamford Bridge.
Pochettino recently addressed the constant rumblings about his job by saying: “I wanted to say that it is enough with this type of rumours, that if I have one year more [under] contract here and no-one says nothing [to me], [I] suppose I’m going to be here.”
Chelsea face two away trips to Nottingham Forest and Brighton before ending their season by welcoming Bournemouth to Stamford Bridge next weekend.
