After parting ways with head coach Darvin Ham after two seasons with the team, the Los Angeles Lakers head into the NBA offseason with the search for a new head coach underway and a number of candidates emerging.
One of the coaching candidates for the Lakers that seems to be gaining a lot of steam is ESPN analyst and former NBA player J.J. Redick, who is also a podcaster co-host with superstar LeBron James.
Although Redick has been frequently mentioned as a candidate for the Lakers job, he has zero coaching experience, which makes him a strange choice for the position, especially after the team just parted ways with a first-timer.
Apparently, former NBA head coach George Karl is taking advantage of this time to poke fun at the Lakers franchise, as he recently took to Twitter to take an indirect shot at the team for Redick being a top candidate for the job in Los Angeles.
As of right now, there’s no telling where the coaching search for the Lakers is going as it seems that a new report surfaces on a daily basis about a new candidate or how much the team is vetting Redick.
With the Lakers wanting to re-sign James if he opts out of his contract next month, the team is doing everything in its power to make him happy, and hiring his podcast co-host Redick might be the way to go, which gives the four-time NBA champion even more power in Los Angeles moving forward.
