Indiana Fever Coach Says She Was ‘Worried’ About Caitlin Clark Against Lynx

On Friday night, the Indiana Fever suffered a tough 99-88 loss to the Minnesota Lynx, only their second defeat since the WNBA’s return from the Olympic break. Caitlin Clark, the Fever’s star point guard, had a frustrating game, feeling like she was on the receiving end of many missed calls. She expressed her disappointment throughout the game, and her emotions almost got the best of her towards the end of the third quarter.

When the referees finally made a call in her favor, Clark clapped in appreciation, but her coach, Christie Sides, was worried she might take it too far. With Clark already having five technical fouls on the season, just two away from a suspension, Sides decided to pull her out of the game for the rest of the quarter. “I was worried she was going to pick up a T in that third quarter, and thank goodness that she didn’t,” Sides said. “But that’s growth, and she’s got to learn that in those moments, I need my point guard to have a cool head, get us in whatever we need to be in offensively.”

Despite the loss, Clark had an impressive game, scoring 25 points on 8-of-21 shooting, grabbing eight rebounds, and dishing out eight assists. The Fever now sit at 18-17 on the season, but still hold a one-game lead over the Phoenix Mercury for the sixth seed in the WNBA playoffs.

Clark’s frustration with the referees is understandable, but she knows she needs to keep her cool under pressure. Her coach is working with her to develop a more level head in tense situations, and Clark is learning to balance her passion with poise. As the Fever head into the final stretch of the season, they’ll need Clark’s leadership and composure to make a deep playoff run.

The loss to the Lynx was a tough one, but the Fever can’t dwell on it. They need to focus on their next game and keep pushing forward. With Clark at the helm, they have the talent and determination to make a run in the playoffs. It’s all about staying focused and playing smart basketball.

In conclusion, the Indiana Fever’s loss to the Minnesota Lynx was a tough pill to swallow, but Caitlin Clark’s growth and development are promising signs for the future. Clark’s ability to recognize her emotions and work on her composure will serve her well in the long run. With her talent and leadership, the Fever can make a deep run in the playoffs, but it starts with staying focused and playing smart basketball.
