Bill Belichick knows a thing or two about New England Patriots defensive lineman Keion White. It was he, after all, who made the decision to draft White to the Patriots in the second round of last year’s draft.
Despite no longer coaching him — Belichick and the Patriots parted ways this offseason — he still holds the Georgia Tech product in high regard. Look no further than the “Football Guy of the Week” segment on Inside the NFL.
Ex-Patriot Chris Long picked White among the three nominees for Belichick to choose from, and he went with him.
“First of all, I love Keion White,” Belichick explained his decision to choose White over Tampa Bay’s Baker Mayfield and San Francisco’s Jordan Mason. “He can play outside. He can play inside. He’s tough, strong, can really play the run, play the pass. He just needs a little bit more experience and technique. You saw what he did in Week 1.”
White registered 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble during the Patriots’ opening week win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
