The Indianapolis Colts made two roster moves on Tuesday, signing former New England Patriots defensive lineman Lawrence Guy Sr. to their 53-man roster. To make room, the Colts released cornerback Ameer Speed.
Guy, drafted by Green Bay in 2011, spent his rookie season on the Packers’ practice squad before joining the Colts and making his NFL debut. He went on to play for the Chargers and Ravens before joining the Patriots in 2017.
During his seven-season tenure with New England, Guy played 110 games, including eight postseason appearances and the 2018 Super Bowl championship. Primarily a defensive tackle, Guy also has experience as a defensive end in short-yardage situations.
Guy was released by the Patriots on February 19, 2024, along with veteran safety Adrian Phillips. Until now, neither player had signed with a new team. Meanwhile, Speed, drafted by the Patriots in 2023, was released by New England on October 19, 2023, and subsequently claimed off waivers by the Colts.
