Alabama is poised to break two remarkable streaks as they host Georgia in Saturday’s SEC showdown. The Crimson Tide, currently 2-point underdogs, haven’t been favored less at home in 90 consecutive games since 2007 against LSU. Additionally, they haven’t been underdogs in any regular-season game since 2015 against Georgia.
Oddsmakers initially predicted a larger point spread in Alabama’s disfavor due to coach Nick Saban’s departure. However, after assessing the teams’ performances this season, sportsbooks now favor Georgia by fewer points. Chris Andrews, a veteran Las Vegas oddsmaker, initially set Georgia as a 4.5-point favorite but has since revised his perception.
Andrews notes that Georgia, although “really good,” hasn’t replicated last year’s excellence. In contrast, Alabama has impressed, prompting Andrews to adjust the line in their favor compared to other sportsbooks.
As of Monday, various sportsbooks showed varying lines: ESPN BET had Georgia -1.5, while FanDuel and BetMGM listed -2.5. The shifting odds reflect the teams’ performances, indicating a closely contested matchup between two SEC powerhouses.
