Linebacker Blake Cashman, a Minnesota native, returned to his hometown team, the Vikings, in free agency. Despite interest from other teams, including the Packers, Cashman chose the Vikings, citing it as the “best-case scenario” for his career.
Cashman, who had a breakout season with the Houston Texans in 2023, was courted by several teams, including the Denver Broncos, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Atlanta Falcons. However, the Vikings’ offer was too good to pass up, with Cashman excited about the role envisioned for him by the coaches.
Interestingly, Cashman was once a Packers fan, admiring Brett Favre’s “gun-slinging mentality.” However, when it came to choosing his next team, loyalty to his home state won out. “I would have picked to come here [Minnesota] any day,” Cashman said, even with the opportunity to play for the Packers.
Now back in Minnesota, Cashman is eager to contribute to the Vikings’ success. With his family and roots in the state, Cashman feels aligned with his team and role, poised for a successful season. His homecoming marks a new chapter in his NFL journey.
