Mets more optimistic about Francisco Lindor injury after loss to Braves?

New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor’s recovery from a lingering back injury took a significant step forward on Tuesday. Initially considered a long shot to play in the series opener against the Atlanta Braves, Lindor surprisingly emerged in the on-deck circle in the top of the ninth inning.

Although he didn’t get a chance to bat, Lindor’s presence signaled progress in his rehabilitation. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza offered an optimistic update post-game, suggesting Lindor could return to action as early as Wednesday.

Mendoza revealed that Lindor had continued hitting throughout the game, testing his back’s readiness. After evaluating his condition, Lindor felt comfortable enough to potentially bat in the ninth inning. This development hints at a possible swift return for the All-Star shortstop.

Lindor’s impending return would provide a crucial boost to the Mets’ lineup. With his status upgraded to “day-to-day,” fans eagerly await his official comeback. Will Lindor take the field on Wednesday, or will the team exercise caution? Either way, his progress bodes well for the Mets’ push toward the postseason.
