Things are going well for Levi Colwill, Noni Madueke and Chelsea at the moment.
Sitting fourth in the Premier League table, Chelsea are where they want to be as they look to qualify for the Champions League
However, the likes of Levi Colwill and Noni Madueke are still pushing each other in training. Both men have been key players for Enzo Maresca this season.
The latter was really effective for Chelsea last time out. Madueke had 20 touches in Nottingham Forest’s box and scored against Nuno Espirito Santo’s men in his side’s 1-1 draw with them last Sunday.
Levi Colwill and Noni Madueke’s disagreement
During one recent training session at Cobham, Colwill and Madueke were clearly not happy about something and let each other know that.
In an interview shared by Chelsea’s official YouTube channel, Colwill revealed that he and Madueke had “a little go at each other”, something the pair laughed about afterwards.
When asked if they critique each other, Colwill said: “Yeah, in training two days ago, we had a little go at each other, didn’t we? You know, that’s how you have got to be. Sometimes you have got to be tough on each other to strive for greatness.”
Madueke then added: “As soon as we got off the pitch, we were both laughing about it. That’s how it has to be. It’s like, nothing’s personal.”
What Colwill and Madueke have been saying to each other is working, with both men performing well for Chelsea this season. Darren Bent recently labelled Colwill as a “very good centre-half”.
Levi Colwill and Noni Madueke Chelsea’s future
While Colwill and Madueke are getting the job done now, Chelsea will also be expecting the two England internationals to make an impact in the future.
Madueke is 22, while Colwill is still just 21. Colwill looks to have secured a long-term position in Chelsea’s central defence, but there is no guarantee that Madueke is going to remain the team’s first-choice right winger.
Pedro Neto is also in the Blues’ squad, while Estevao Willian will move to Stamford Bridge next summer.
Estevao is not worried about flopping at Chelsea, so the Brazilian could give Madueke a good run for his money. If you are Maresca, it is probably a good problem to have. He can never complain about not having enough attacking quality.
