Less than a year and a half after Bronny James went into cardiac arrest during a USC basketball offseason workout, he’s now in the midst of his first season with the Los Angeles Lakers. At the time of the health scare, it’s unlikely many people would have predicted the following 15 months to play out as they did. With Bronny and his now-Lakers teammate LeBron James becoming the first father-son due to team up at the NBA level, the younger James is officially getting his professional career underway. Ahead of the Lakers’ regular-season opener for the 2024-25 season against the Minnesota Timberwolves, LeBron spoke with reporters and revealed an interesting tidbit about his son.
Specifically, the future Hall-of-Famer revealed that Bronny had only one question for doctors after the health scare – when he could return to playing basketball. “[Bronny] asked the doctors, ‘When can I pay again?’ Not, ‘How long is it going to take for my heart to heal?’ Or not, ‘How long was I in surgery?’ None of those. He asked, ‘When can I play?'” LeBron said, per ESPN’s Dave McMenamin revealed.
