Gushue’s team defeated Yannick Schwaller of Geneva, Switzerland, 6-2 in the semifinals. Strategic play and precise shots earned Gushue a single in the second end, followed by steals in the third and fourth ends.

Silvana Tirinzoni of Aarau, Switzerland, narrowly defeated Eun-jung Kim of South Korea 5-4 in the other women’s semifinal. Tirinzoni’s single in the eighth end proved decisive.
