Monster Energy/Star Racing Yamaha’s Eli Tomac has revealed his intention to return to competition before the conclusion of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross season. Tomac suffered a broken fibula during qualifying at round 5 in Tampa, but he is determined to make a comeback in time for the final rounds of the championship.

In a recent interview with Swap Moto Live, Tomac shared his optimism about returning to action within a six-week recovery timeframe. “I have a realistic chance at coming back for the last few Supercross [rounds] if things go the way I think they will go,” he stated. Tomac’s motivation for returning to Supercross is twofold: he wants to accumulate more gate drops before the motocross season commences.

Tomac’s initial assessment of his injury was that it was merely a twisted ankle, which he attempted to ride through during the evening’s competition. Despite the pain, he managed to secure a 17th-place finish. However, further evaluation following the race revealed the true extent of his injury – a broken fibula. Tomac underwent surgery in Vail, CO, last week, and now has a small plate in his leg.

The road to recovery will be challenging, but Tomac’s determination to return to competition before the end of the Supercross season is a testament to his resilience and dedication to the sport. As he embarks on this journey, Tomac will undoubtedly face setbacks and obstacles, but his unwavering commitment to his craft will drive him to push through the adversity and return to the track stronger than ever.

Tomac’s decision to target a return to Supercross before the season’s end also highlights his focus on preparing for the upcoming motocross season. By accumulating more gate drops and competitive experience, Tomac aims to fine-tune his skills and build momentum for the outdoor season.

As the Supercross season enters its final stretch, fans and rivals alike will be keeping a close eye on Tomac’s progress. Will he be able to make a successful return to competition, or will his injury prove too severe to overcome? The answer to this question will only be revealed in time, but one thing is certain – Eli Tomac’s determination and perseverance will be on full display as he battles to return to the top step of the podium.
