The 2025 Pro Motocross Championship kicked off at Fox Raceway in Pala, California, with Jett Lawrence asserting his dominance over Eli Tomac in the 450 Class. Lawrence, riding for Team Honda HRC Progressive, showcased his exceptional skills by winning both motos and maintaining an undefeated record at Fox Raceway.
Jett Lawrence led every lap in both motos, demonstrating his superior speed and control. He extended his unbeaten streak at Fox Raceway to five motos and secured his 16th win in 17 career starts. Eli Tomac, riding for Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing, finished second overall after a thrilling battle with Lawrence in the second moto. Tomac’s performance marked a strong comeback, and he expressed satisfaction with his ride, despite being unable to overtake Lawrence.
Hunter Lawrence, Jett’s brother, secured third place overall with a 3-4 finish. He had an intense battle with Aaron Plessinger in the second moto but managed to hold on to the podium spot.
In the first moto, Jett Lawrence grabbed the holeshot and quickly established a significant lead. Justin Cooper impressed with a strong second-place finish, while Hunter Lawrence held off Tomac for third. Notably, defending champion Chase Sexton faced adversity when he had to take off his goggles, eventually crashing and DNF’ing.
The second moto was marked by an intense battle between Jett Lawrence and Eli Tomac. Tomac pushed Lawrence hard, but the young Australian rider managed to maintain his lead. Aaron Plessinger and Hunter Lawrence engaged in a fierce battle for third, with Plessinger ultimately passing Hunter on the final lap.
After the race, Jett Lawrence praised the challenging battle with Tomac, describing it as a “chess game” where both riders had their strengths and weaknesses. Tomac acknowledged Lawrence’s superior performance but was pleased with his own ride, feeling strong and ready for the next round.
