Red Bull KTM Factory Racing is on fire, and their recent performance at the Grand Prix of Germany is proof of their dominance in the MXGP and MX2 FIM Motocross World Championships. Jeffrey Herlings, a five-time world champion, has returned to the top step of the podium, claiming his 108th career success.
The Dutchman went 2-1, securing his first podium of the season and his first win since the 2024 Dutch GP. Herlings praised the competition, saying, “Hats-off to the competition. I feel like I am getting close to their level again and I’m just trying to be there every single weekend.”
Lucas Coenen, the 18-year-old Belgian rider, finished 1-2 overall, closing the deficit to the MXGP red plate to just 37 points in his debut year. Coenen had some sketchy moments but enjoyed sharing the podium with Herlings.
In the MX2 class, Andrea Adamo claimed victory, taking 1st and 3rd positions in the two motos, securing his fourth MX2 Grand Prix win of 2025 and taking control of the red plate. Adamo said, “I did two smart races. The championship is long, and while the red plate is nice, it’s not important. We’ll keep the focus.”
The current championship standings have Romain Febvre leading the MXGP class with 487 points, while Lucas Coenen is closing in on the red plate with 451 points. In the MX2 class, Andrea Adamo has taken the lead with 466 points, just three points ahead of Simon Laengenfelder.
The MXGP series heads to Latvia for the Grand Prix of Latvia at the Kegums circuit, close to the city of Riga. The track is known for its loose, sandy soil, which will surely test the riders’ skills. With KTM’s recent performance, it’s clear they’re a force to be reckoned with. Will they continue their dominance in Latvia? Only time will tell.
