Former Texas Longhorns wide receiver Isaiah Bond plans to sign with the Cleveland Browns after a grand jury in Collin County, Texas, decided not to indict him on sexual assault charges. This “no bill” decision means Bond won’t face further criminal charges related to the case.
The sexual assault case against Bond stemmed from a February incident. Bond had turned himself in to police in April on an outstanding warrant and was released on $25,000 bond. Throughout, Bond maintained his innocence, calling the allegations “patently false.” He cooperated with authorities and requested that people reserve judgment until all evidence was reviewed.
After the grand jury’s decision, Bond expressed gratitude for the outcome and stated he’d learn from the experience. “I want to be clear: from the very beginning I have refuted these allegations and maintained my innocence. I stand firm by that today,” Bond wrote.
Bond, an Alabama transfer, had a notable season with Texas in 2024. He caught 34 passes for 540 yards and five touchdowns and rushed for an additional 98 yards and a touchdown. Despite being considered a second-round prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft, Bond went undrafted following his arrest.
Bond announced plans to sign with the Cleveland Browns shortly after the charges were dropped. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the deal between Bond and the Browns hasn’t been finalized yet.
Bond had filed a defamation lawsuit against the woman who made the allegations. This lawsuit was dismissed with prejudice by a United States District Court in Northern Texas last month.
With the criminal case concluded, Bond looks to start his NFL career with the Cleveland Browns. His athletic abilities, including a 4.39-second 40-yard dash at the NFL scouting combine, were notable aspects of his profile.
