Oliver Bearman, a Haas F1 driver, has been compared to Max Verstappen due to their similar passion for racing, even during vacations. Like Verstappen, who enjoys driving on racetracks worldwide and has reportedly broken the lap record on the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife under an alter ego, Bearman was found pushing himself on a short race track near his holiday home in Sweden.
Bearman’s Quest for the Lap Record
Bearman spent several days trying to beat the lap record on the circuit near his vacation spot. He was encouraged by his girlfriend’s family to beat the record. Initially, Bearman was a few tenths of a second off the pace on the first day. On the final day, with new tires and proper setup, he managed to set the fastest time ever on the circuit.
Assistance in Achieving the Lap Record
Bearman had some help in his quest for the lap record. Another person was slipstreaming him on the straight and then moved out of the way at the last minute, allowing Bearman to complete the lap. Bearman described this as “really top level.”
Details of Bearman’s Effort
Bearman shared that he and his girlfriend took steps to optimize the kart’s performance, like removing fuel to make it lighter and using a leaf blower to cool down the engine between runs. He has photos of these preparations and is keeping memories of the experience.
