Jake E. Lee, the former guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne, received an invite to Ozzy’s farewell show, “Back to the Beginning,” thanks to Tom Morello, the musical director of the event. Morello, a longtime Black Sabbath fan, reached out to Lee, saying, “There’s going to be a thing, an original Sabbath performance and Ozzy Osbourne’s final performance. I can’t see this going on without Jake E. Lee in there somewhere”.
Details of the Farewell Show
The “Back to the Beginning” concert is a historic reunion of the original Black Sabbath members—Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward—in their hometown of Birmingham at Villa Park on July 5. The event will feature an all-star lineup of musicians paying homage to Ozzy’s legacy and Sabbath’s pioneering sound, including Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, and more.
Jake E. Lee’s Thoughts on the Invitation
Lee expressed excitement about being part of the show, both as a participant and an audience member. He hopes Ozzy can get through the performance, considering Ozzy’s health struggles. Lee hasn’t spoken with or seen Ozzy in decades and doesn’t know Ozzy’s current condition but believes Ozzy “deserves a final farewell performance”.
