Max Verstappen, the four-time reigning Formula 1 World Champion, has expressed satisfaction with the start of his season but acknowledges there’s room for improvement, particularly in his communication with Red Bull’s new team principal, Laurent Mekies.
Verstappen finds Mekies “very open-minded” and notes that communication between them has been “going really well”. He believes there’s scope to improve their communication, which he expects will “get better and better” over time.
Verstappen trails McLaren drivers Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris by 97 and 88 points, respectively, in the F1 drivers’ championship. Red Bull is 365 points behind McLaren in the teams’ standings.
The Dutch Grand Prix is scheduled for August 29-31, 2025, at Circuit Zandvoort. Verstappen is set to bring back the iconic *ORANGE LION DRIVER CAP* for the event.
Laurent Mekies replaced Christian Horner as Red Bull’s team principal in July 2025. Mekies is overseeing restructuring at Red Bull as the team aims to regain title-winning contention.
