Lindsey Vonn, one of the greatest female speed skiers in history, has joined her USA alpine ski teammates at the Roundhill Ski Area in Tekapō, New Zealand. Vonn, 40, posted photos on LinkedIn of herself in American team gear on a mountain, saying _”Made it to New Zealand for summer ski camp.”_ Tekapō’s Roundhill Ski Area is about three-and-a-half hours from Christchurch.
Vonn is widely regarded for her incredible achievements in alpine skiing. During her 15 years on the World Cup circuit:
– She won *20 World Cup crystal globes*.
– She holds a record of *43 downhill races won*.
– She became the *USA’s first women’s Olympic downhill champion* at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.
Vonn made a surprise comeback to competitive skiing last year after retiring in 2019. Following a knee replacement surgery in April 2024, she reported feeling stronger than in her mid-to-late 20s. Vonn has been consistently placing in the top 16 for the 2024-25 season and aims to return to champion form. She achieved a notable second-place finish at the 2025 Alpine World Cup in Sun Valley, Idaho—her first podium since the comeback.
