Lindsey Vonn, the renowned American skier, recently shared an emotional note grieving the loss of her loved ones ahead of the 2025 skiing season. In her heartfelt message, Vonn revealed that she has written the initials of those she’s lost over the years on her skiing helmet.

Vonn has experienced several losses in recent years. In 2022, she lost her mother, Linda Krohn, to ALS. Earlier this year, she mourned the passing of her beloved pet dog, Lucy. Vonn expressed her deep sorrow over Lucy’s death, mentioning that Lucy had been a part of her life for nine years and had accompanied her on many adventures.

Vonn has honored the memory of her loved ones in various ways. At the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics, she spread some of her grandfather’s ashes near the mountain where the races were held. Now, with “My angel army has grown,” Vonn acknowledges the growing number of loved ones she’s lost.

Despite her grief, Vonn is preparing for the 2025 skiing season. She has announced plans to compete in the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics before retiring again. Vonn underwent a successful knee replacement surgery in April 2024 and has since been training and enjoying skiing in locations like Austria.

Lindsey Vonn is undoubtedly one of the greatest skiers of all time. With 82 World Cup wins, 16 discipline World Cup titles, and four overall World Cup titles, Vonn has left an indelible mark on the sport. Her passion for skiing remains strong despite the challenges she’s faced.

Following Vonn’s emotional note about losing Lucy, condolences poured in from notable individuals like NBA champion Kevin Love and Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps. Vonn has also shared her gratitude for life and skiing after her knee replacement surgery.

As Vonn gears up for the 2025 skiing season and potentially her final Olympics in 2026, fans and followers are showing support for the skiing legend. With her “angel army” growing, Vonn remains focused on her sport and the memories she’s creating.
