Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, fiancé of alpine skiing star Mikaela Shiffrin, recently opened up about their wedding plans as both athletes gear up for the 2025–26 ski season. Shiffrin, a member of the USA’s alpine skiing A team, and Kilde, who is making a triumphant return to Norway’s national team, have yet to set a firm wedding date, but Kilde hinted at possibilities following the upcoming Olympics.
In an interview with Austrian outlet Krone, Kilde shared that the couple, who got engaged in April 2024, might tie the knot after the Olympic Games, depending on their career paths. “Maybe after the Olympics, if one of us retires or something, then we’ll have time to party,” he said. The engagement was announced on Instagram, where Shiffrin proudly displayed her ring in heartfelt photos.
Kilde’s comments come as he reflects on a life-altering moment that deepened their bond. On January 13, 2024, Kilde suffered a severe crash during a downhill race in Wengen, Switzerland, requiring an airlift to a hospital. Shiffrin stayed by his side through the ordeal, a gesture that profoundly moved him. “She was there in the hospital with me that night, and it felt so special,” Kilde recalled. “That’s when I knew she was the woman of my life, and I wanted to propose.”
Now fully recovered, Kilde is ready to return to the World Cup circuit, joining Shiffrin, who continues to cement her legacy as one of skiing’s all-time greats with 101 World Cup victories. Kilde, a decorated skier himself, boasts 21 World Cup wins and two Olympic medals—a silver in the combined and a bronze in the Super-G. As they prepare for the upcoming season, fans eagerly await both their performances on the slopes and updates on their future together.
