Two-time Olympic gold medalist and record-holder for the most World Cup skiing victories, Mikaela Shiffrin, is expanding her portfolio with the debut of a new podcast. Titled What’s the Point with Mikaela Shiffrin, the bi-weekly series will explore meaningful conversations and be available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, and—Shiffrin hopes—United Airlines’ in-flight entertainment system in the future.
The inaugural episode is scheduled for release on October 29, coinciding with the 100-day countdown to the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics.
In an interview with USA TODAY Sports, Shiffrin expressed enthusiasm tempered by the challenges of balancing the project with her demanding training schedule. “We’ve adjusted the launch day a few times, so I’ve been excited for a month now,” she said with a laugh. “It’s very much a learning experience because I’m starting this together with a really important season. So I’m intrigued to see how it’s all going to go, how I’m going to be able to balance the time of training and also having these really meaningful conversations, which I want to put all of my effort into.”
Shiffrin, who collaborates with the pharmaceutical company Lilly to support families affected by Alzheimer’s disease—including her own—noted that early recordings have been rewarding. “So far I’ve had a few really great chats, and I’m just excited for people to be able to gain the perspective that I’m hoping to gain by having these conversations,” she added.
The podcast adds to Shiffrin’s multifaceted career, blending her athletic pursuits with advocacy and media endeavors as she gears up for another competitive season.
