American ski superstar Mikaela Shiffrin continued her sensational start to the 2025-26 FIS Alpine Ski World Cup season on Sunday, claiming her second consecutive slalom victory in just seven days with a commanding performance in Gurgl, Austria.
The 30-year-old two-time Olympic champion was untouchable across both runs, posting a combined time that left her 1.23 seconds clear of rising Italian teenager Lara Colturi, who finished second. Switzerland’s Camille Rast rounded out the podium in third.
The result mirrored Shiffrin’s victory the previous weekend in Levi, Finland, where she also beat Colturi by a comfortable margin. With Sunday’s triumph, Shiffrin now boasts an incredible 103 World Cup wins — 66 of them in slalom — both all-time records.
After spending much of the past two seasons battling injuries and watching from the sidelines, Shiffrin expressed deep gratitude for being back at the sharp end of the field.
“Today was exhilarating!! Not easy, never given,” Shiffrin posted on social media. “Having watched a good chunk of the past 2 seasons from the sidelines, I’m honestly so grateful to be part of it… Everyone is pushing and it’s so motivating to give my absolute ALL in these races.”
Shiffrin will now head home to the United States for the first time this season, with the Stifel Copper Cup at Copper Mountain, Colorado, scheduled for Thanksgiving weekend (November 27–30, 2025). She is entered in Saturday’s giant slalom and Sunday’s slalom, where she’ll have the rare luxury of racing during the day and sleeping in her own bed at night.
The high-altitude Colorado event, which is free to spectators, will feature both men’s and women’s races and serves as an important early-season stop on the road to the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics.
