The Stifel U.S. Ski Team delivered a powerhouse performance in Saturday’s World Cup giant slalom, placing three athletes inside the top 15 on a brutal, snowy day in Quebec.
Leading the American assault was Mikaela Shiffrin, who fought through thick fog on her second run to secure a hard-earned 6th place — her best GS result since her comeback from last season’s severe injury.
Hot on her heels, Nina O’Brien charged to a standout 10th-place finish, while Paula Moltzan battled back from a costly first-run mistake to claim 13th.
Despite challenging conditions — light snow, piling surfaces, and visibility that deteriorated throughout the second run — the U.S. women showed grit and speed, with all three climbers moving up the leaderboard when it mattered most.
The result marks another milestone for Shiffrin, officially locking her back into the coveted top-15 giant slalom seed and signaling that her aggressive edge is fully returning.
Alice Robinson (NZL) took the victory, followed by Zrinka Ljutic (CRO) and hometown favorite Valerie Grenier (CAN).
The U.S. trio heads into Sunday’s second Tremblant GS hungry for more.
