Mikaela Shiffrin and Aleksander Aamodt Kilde have officially put an end to months of speculation about their wedding, reassuring fans that marriage is very much in their future.
In a light-hearted and candid episode of the podcast What’s the Point? released on November 4, the alpine skiing power couple addressed the constant questions surrounding their engagement timeline head-on.
“We’re going to get married, guys—calm down,” Shiffrin said with a laugh, while her fiancé, Norwegian speed star Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, couldn’t resist a playful compliment: “Nobody is perfect, but she is pretty close.”
The two Olympic champions got engaged in April 2024 in a romantic mountaintop proposal in Colorado after four years together. They first crossed paths at the 2020 World Cup finals in Åre, Sweden, and quickly became one of skiing’s most beloved couples, bonded by their shared love for high-speed racing and life on the World Cup circuit.
Shiffrin, 30, is currently chasing her historic 100th World Cup victory, while Kilde, 33, is working his way back to full fitness after a devastating crash in Wengen in January 2024 that sidelined him for nearly two seasons. The couple hinted that wedding plans will likely take shape after the 2025-26 season, allowing them to focus on racing and recovery first.
“We’ve got this,” Shiffrin said confidently, with Kilde adding that the ceremony will be intimate and low-key—fitting for two athletes whose lives revolve around early-morning training sessions and globe-chasing schedules.
Fans have already started dreaming up guest lists (some even jokingly campaigning for Taylor Swift to handle the playlist), but one thing is clear: whenever the big day arrives, skiing’s ultimate power couple will be ready to say “I do.”
