Austria’s Cornelia “Conny” Hütter delivered a masterful performance to win the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup women’s downhill on the legendary Oreiller-Killy (OK) piste today, Saturday, December 20, 2025, securing her 10th career World Cup victory and her first-ever triumph on French soil.
The 33-year-old speed specialist clocked a blazing time of 1:41.54, showcasing flawless gliding sections and aggressive lines to hold off a strong field. Hütter, racing just after Lindsey Vonn, built a consistent lead from the first split and peaked at speeds of 126 km/h, proving untouchable on the demanding course.
Germany’s Kira Weidle-Winkelmann earned a well-deserved silver medal, finishing just +0.26 seconds behind in second place – her best result of the season so far.
American legend Lindsey Vonn, at 41 years old, rounded out the podium in third (+0.35), extending her remarkable comeback with a third consecutive podium in the young season. Vonn now maintains her lead in the downhill standings heading into the Olympic campaign for Milano Cortina 2026.
The race delivered high drama under perfect winter conditions, with the iconic Val d’Isère track living up to its reputation for separating the elite. Hütter’s win marks a historic milestone as the first Austrian woman to triumph in a Val d’Isère downhill since 1978.
Action continues tomorrow with the women’s Super-G on the same venue.
