Merry Christmas from the FIS Alpine family! 🎅❤️ While the world unwraps gifts and gathers around the fire, the alpine skiing world is buzzing with holiday magic – and two American legends are making it extra special this season!
From the North Pole to the podiums, Santa himself would be proud: Mikaela Shiffrin is absolutely owning the technical events, while Lindsey Vonn is defying age with an epic comeback in speed. Together, they’re the gift that keeps on giving to Team USA fans ahead of the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics!
Shiffrin, the all-time wins record holder, is on a historic tear: perfect 4-for-4 in slalom this season (Levi, Gurgl, Copper Mountain, Courchevel), extending her streak to five straight dating back to last year. Her latest? A dominant 105th career World Cup victory in Courchevel on December 16, winning by a massive 1.55 seconds under the lights. She’s leading the overall standings and eyeing more history in Semmering, Austria, starting December 27 – where she’s won seven times before!
And don’t forget Levi – where Mikaela not only won but posed with Santa and claimed her ninth reindeer prize, joking she’s ready to retire the big guy’s sleigh crew! 🎅🦌
Meanwhile, at 41, Lindsey Vonn is straight out of a Christmas miracle story. Her comeback has delivered four podiums in five speed races, including a historic win in St. Moritz downhill (December 12) – making her the oldest World Cup winner ever. She followed with thirds in Val d’Isère downhill and super-G. Vonn’s already qualified for her fifth Olympics, leading the downhill standings and proving speed never retires!
The cherry on top? The new team combined event debuting at the 2026 Olympics – pairing a technical specialist (hello, Mikaela!) with a speed star (Lindsey, anyone?). Fans are dreaming of this powerhouse duo bringing home gold in Cortina. It’s the ultimate holiday wish for alpine skiing!
From all of us in the FIS Alpine family: May your Christmas be merry, your slopes powdery, and your new year filled with epic runs! ❄️🎄
