Swiss sensation Camille Rast delivered a masterful performance on the demanding Podkoren course today, securing her maiden World Cup victory in giant slalom and her first win of the 2025/26 season. The 26-year-old Valais native clocked a combined time of 2:00.09 to edge out the competition in thrilling fashion, building on her second-place finish in Semmering just a week ago.
Rast, the reigning world slalom champion, dominated from the start with bib 1, posting the fastest first-run time and holding off challengers in the second run. “This feels incredible โ I’ve been working so hard on my giant slalom, and to get my first win here is special,” Rast said post-race, beaming with emotion.
Austria’s Julia Scheib charged to silver with a time of 2:00.29 (+0.20), maintaining her strong form as the current GS discipline leader. American Paula Moltzan rounded out the podium in bronze at 2:00.56 (+0.47), earning her best result of the season and delighting U.S. fans.
Notable finishes included defending Olympic GS champion Sara Hector (SWE) in 4th (+0.50) and superstar Mikaela Shiffrin (USA) in 5th (+1.05), who continues to rebuild momentum in the discipline ahead of the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympics.
