What a legendary comeback moment! At 41 years old, skiing icon Lindsey Vonn just claimed her 84th career World Cup victory (and record-extending 45th in downhill) on January 10, 2026, dominating the downhill race in Zauchensee, Austria!
Vonn crossed the line 0.37 seconds ahead of Norway’s Kajsa Vickhoff Lie, with her U.S. teammate Jacqueline Wiles charging into third place — just 0.48 seconds back. The emotional highlight? This marks the first time Vonn and Wiles have shared a podium since their triumph in Cortina d’Ampezzo back in 2018, right before the PyeongChang Olympics!
Vonn was ecstatic in the finish area, jumping with joy as Wiles sealed the podium. Wiles called it “super special” to reunite on the podium with the legend after years of challenges and resilience.
“Being on the podium again with her is super special,” Wiles shared post-race.
Vonn, racing with a rebuilt knee featuring titanium implants, has now podiumed in all four downhill races this Olympic season — proving she’s a serious medal threat for the upcoming Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics (where downhill events return to her favorite Cortina slopes on Feb. 8).
She also gave shoutouts to the entire U.S. Ski Team and the fierce competition, declaring the women are unstoppable!
This victory comes amid Vonn’s incredible return from retirement (after 2019), with the 2026 Games marking her fifth and final Olympics. The whole @usskiteam is on fire, and America’s speed queens are leading the charge!
Another race tomorrow — who’s ready for more magic? 🇺🇸⛷️ Drop a 🔥 if you’re hyped for Vonn’s Olympic quest!
