American alpine skiing superstar Mikaela Shiffrin has drawn bib number 7 for Tuesday’s highly anticipated women’s night slalom on the iconic Hermann Maier course in Flachau, setting the stage for a thrilling showdown in one of the season’s premier events.
The draw places Shiffrin in a strong position within the top group, following her status as the current World Cup slalom leader with 580 points. She starts just behind Swiss rival Camille Rast (bib 6), who snapped Shiffrin’s six-race winning streak earlier this month with a victory in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia, where Shiffrin finished second.
With 106 career World Cup victories—including five previous wins in Flachau—Shiffrin enters the race as the clear favorite on a hill where she has reached the podium in nearly every appearance since her debut. The night race, under floodlights and in front of a passionate Austrian crowd, marks the penultimate women’s slalom before the Olympic qualification window closes, adding extra intensity as athletes eye strong results ahead of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Games starting February 6.
Shiffrin, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and dominant force in the discipline, aims to reclaim momentum and extend her lead in both the slalom and overall World Cup standings (currently at 823 points). Rast, the slalom world champion and defending Flachau winner from last year, remains her closest challenger at 362 slalom points.
The race schedule features first run at 17:45 CET (11:45 ET) and second run at 20:45 CET (14:45 ET), promising high-stakes action on the challenging course.
Fans worldwide will be watching to see if Shiffrin can deliver another signature performance and solidify her path toward Olympic glory. Tune in live for what promises to be an unforgettable night on the slopes. ⛷️
