Double Olympic champion Mikaela Shiffrin is set to compete in the women’s giant slalom and slalom events at the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup in Špindlerův Mlýn, Czechia, on January 24-25, 2026. This marks the final technical races before the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, kicking off on February 6.
Shiffrin, the dominant force in slalom this season, has secured six victories in the seven slalom races so far, with her only non-win being a second-place finish behind Swiss skier Camille Rast in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia. Her latest triumph came in Flachau, Austria, on January 13, extending her impressive streak. In giant slalom, she has shown steady improvement, narrowly missing the podium multiple times—including a fourth-place result at Kronplatz, Italy, on January 20.
Currently, the American star leads the overall World Cup standings and tops the slalom discipline rankings. She sits fifth in giant slalom, where Austria’s Julia Scheib holds the lead after her recent win in Kronplatz, marking her sixth podium in seven GS starts this season.
This weekend’s event returns to Špindlerův Mlýn after a three-year break. The resort holds special significance for Shiffrin: she made her World Cup debut there as a 15-year-old in 2011 (finishing with a DNF), claimed victory in 2019, and added a win plus a second place in the 2023 slalom doubleheader.

After this stop, Shiffrin heads to the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympics, where women’s giant slalom is scheduled for February 15 and slalom for February 18 at the Tofane Alpine Skiing Centre in Cortina d’Ampezzo. The World Cup slalom season wraps up later with races in Åre, Sweden (March 15) and Lillehammer, Norway (March 24), deciding the Crystal Globes.
Shiffrin’s form positions her as a top favorite heading into the Olympics, building on her storied career and recent dominance in the gates.
