As the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics approach, ESPN is giving viewers an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at the high-stakes world of professional alpine ski racing with its new original series, On the Edge: World Cup Ski Racing.
The five-episode docuseries, which premiered on January 30, 2026, on the ESPN app and ESPN on Disney+ (for bundle subscribers in the U.S.), follows some of the sport’s biggest stars through the grueling 2025-26 Audi FIS Ski World Cup season and their preparations for Olympic glory. It is also set to become available on Disney+ in select international markets.
Directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Pat Dimon and produced by Bright North USA in partnership with the International Ski & Snowboard Federation, the Stifel U.S. Ski Team, and Team USA, the series captures the personal journeys, intense pressures, risks, injuries, comebacks, and unwavering drive of elite athletes as they compete across dramatic courses in Europe and North America.
At the forefront are American legends Mikaela Shiffrin and Lindsey Vonn, alongside other top competitors such as Marco Odermatt (SUI), Lucas Pinheiro Braathen (BRA), Aleksander Aamodt Kilde (NOR), Sofia Goggia (ITA), Henrik Kristoffersen (NOR), Alice Robinson (NZL), Camille Rast (SUI), Dominik Paris (ITA), Ryan Cochran-Siegle (USA), and many more.
The series delves into the human side of the sport—the relentless grind of a global season, the culture surrounding it, and the pursuit of Olympic gold as the ultimate pinnacle. It aims to inspire new fans, with producers hoping it encourages more young people to embrace ski racing and dream of following in the footsteps of stars like Shiffrin and Vonn.
The timing is particularly poignant, coming just weeks before the Olympics (February 6–22, 2026) and amid recent headlines in the sport, including Vonn’s injury scare during a World Cup downhill event in Crans-Montana.
On the Edge offers an unfiltered glimpse into what it truly takes to race at the highest level, blending thrilling action on the snow with candid off-slope moments. Fans can stream the episodes now on ESPN platforms to get hyped for the upcoming Games.
