Von Allmen Rockets to Lead in Crans-Montana Downhill – Swiss Star Tops After 30, Paris & Cochran-Siegle Lurking as Olympics Loom

Crans-Montana, Switzerland – February 1, 2026 – The final men’s downhill World Cup before the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics exploded into life today on the demanding Mont Lachaux course, with Swiss powerhouse Franjo von Allmen (@franjo_v_allmen) seizing the provisional lead after the first 30 athletes had crossed the finish line.

The 24-year-old von Allmen, who’s been scorching the speed circuit this season with podiums and a victory in Val Gardena, delivered a blistering run to sit atop the leaderboard in perfect sunny conditions. Hot on his heels are Italian veteran Dominik Paris (@dominikparis) in second—leveraging his experience on tough classics—and American Ryan Cochran-Siegle (@rc.s) holding strong in third, keeping Team USA firmly in the medal conversation.

This mid-race snapshot (after bibs 1-30) sets up massive drama: Big guns like overall leader and multi-time winner Marco Odermatt (SUI), Aleksander Aamodt Kilde (NOR), and others still to drop could shake everything up on the technical, rolling Piste Nationale. Von Allmen, ranked second in the downhill standings behind Odermatt, has the home-crowd energy and flawless form to potentially claim victory and carry unbeatable momentum into the Olympic downhill on February 7 in Bormio.

The race comes amid a rollercoaster week in Crans-Montana: Friday’s women’s downhill was scrapped after Lindsey Vonn’s scary crash and poor visibility, while Saturday’s Super-G delivered a hometown shock as Swiss Malorie Blanc stunned Sofia Goggia for her maiden World Cup win. Today’s men’s event under clear skies offers redemption and a critical final speed tune-up with just days until the Olympics (February 6–22).

Fans are buzzing on social media with #FISAlpine and #WorldCupCransMontana trending—will von Allmen hold on for a Swiss triumph on home snow? Or will Paris, Cochran-Siegle, or a late charger steal the show?

Live updates continue via FIS channels and broadcasts. The full results will reveal who enters the Olympic Games as the hottest downhill force on the planet! ⛷️🔥
