Mikaela Shiffrin isn’t hiding from her mistakes—she’s owning them, then turning right around and dominating.

After a frustrating giant slalom (GS) blunder in Åre, Sweden, that cost her a shot at victory, the American legend kept it 100% real with fans.

“A little bit of ‘dumba[ ‘ and a little bit of ‘efff yeahhh’,” Shiffrin posted candidly on social media. “Mistakes happen…today it happened for me in the first run because I was pushing so hard, which is equally annoying and also exciting!! I was so grateful that it was still enough to give it a go in the second run and climb the ranks!”

That “dumba ]” moment—a costly error while attacking aggressively—dropped her way back after run one in the GS. But true to form, she fought back hard in the second run, clawing up to a solid fifth place and protecting her overall World Cup lead.

Fast-forward 24 hours: Shiffrin flipped the script in spectacular fashion during the slalom.

Leading after the first run by 0.51 seconds over Germany’s Emma Aicher (her closest rival in the overall chase), Shiffrin delivered a flawless, aggressive second run on the iconic Störtloppsbacken slope—where she’s now won seven times.

The result? A commanding victory in 1:43.35, beating Aicher by a decisive 0.94 seconds and Switzerland’s Wendy Holdener by a full second for third.

It’s Shiffrin’s 109th career World Cup win, her 72nd in slalom, and a record-tying eighth slalom triumph of the season (matching her own mark from 2018/19).

The win extends her overall lead to 140 points over the impressive 22-year-old Aicher, who’s been charging hard across all disciplines and keeping the Crystal Globe fight alive heading into the season finale.

“Today Emma was skiing so strong and I felt like I put my life on the line,” Shiffrin said post-race, tipping her helmet to her rival. “We’re getting a really exciting finale to the season, so I will fight for the overall, but I want to take my hat off to her for the season she’s had.”

From self-roast to straight fire: Shiffrin shows why she’s the GOAT—honest about the lows, unstoppable on the highs.

The pressure’s on, the season’s heating up, and Mikaela’s not done yet. ⛷️🔥 Who’s taking the overall? The world is watching!
