Lindsey Vonn has shared harrowing details about her devastating crash at the 2026 Winter Olympics, revealing she almost lost her leg due to a complex tibia fracture and compartment syndrome. The skiing legend underwent five surgeries and faced intense pain, describing the experience as “seared into my brain” 
Vonn, 41, was airlifted to the hospital after crashing 13 seconds into her downhill run, with her leg broken and skis still attached. “I screamed at the top of my lungs: ‘Get me out’,” she recalled in an interview with Vanity Fair .
Despite the traumatic experience, Vonn remains determined to recover and hasn’t ruled out a return to skiing. She’s been sharing updates on her rehabilitation, showcasing her progress in the gym and on a stationary bike.
