Fresh off another history-making season, skiing legend Mikaela Shiffrin is proving she’s the Greatest Of All Time both on and off the slopes.
Teaming up with longtime partner Oakley and the Share Winter Foundation, the winningest alpine skier in history just launched a bold new push: a $1 million fundraising drive to smash barriers and flood the slopes with the next generation of young skiers and snowboarders.
The initiative, rolled out through an expansion of Shiffrin’s MIK100 project, is called “GOAT Gives Back.” It kicked off with an invite-only ski and ride experience at Copper Mountain, Colorado, where Shiffrin joined young athletes to share the stoke and spotlight the mission.
“It was always my hope to spread the passion for and access to sports with more people,” Shiffrin said. “This sport has given me so much… Legacy is about how we impact the people and world around us.”
The $1 million goal aims to provide full-season access — equipment, lessons, and lift tickets — for hundreds of underserved kids across the United States. Organizers note that just $500 can put one child on snow for an entire winter.
Oakley is fueling the effort by supplying high-performance goggles for participants and helping deliver an unforgettable on-mountain experience.
With winter sports facing rising costs and limited access in many communities, the campaign is being hailed as a game-changer for youth participation. Supporters say every dollar raised will directly help break down financial and logistical walls that keep kids from discovering the joy of skiing and snowboarding.
Shiffrin’s message is clear: the future of the sport depends on sharing the winter — and she’s putting serious skin (and goggles) in the game to make it happen.
