Lindsey Vonn is leaving the door open for a possible return to competitive skiing, despite suffering a devastating crash at the 2026 Winter Olympics that nearly cost her her leg. The 41-year-old skiing legend, who had already retired once in 2019, announced her comeback in 2024 and was on track for a strong Olympic performance before the horrific accident.
“I never got a final run, I never got to say goodbye,” Vonn said in a recent interview. “I think it leaves a door slightly open to, I don’t know, maybe I would do one more race to say goodbye or maybe I’ll race again. It might be fun to do one more run. We’ll see” .
Vonn’s crash was a nightmare, resulting in a complex tibia fracture, a broken ankle, and compartment syndrome, which required five surgeries to save her leg. Despite the setbacks, she’s undergone intense physical therapy and is determined to make a full recovery.
When asked if she’s entertaining another comeback, Vonn replied, “Much to my family’s dismay, yes”.
