It’s not Philadelphia, New York, or Boston. It’s much better.
The Los Angeles fan base is one of one, and you could especially say the same for Laker fans. Laker fans are as passionate about their team as fans from many other sports.
The 17-time champions’ fan base is spoiled, but one thing is for sure— they love their team. You could feel it in the city, from other cities, online, and pretty much anywhere. It’s palpable, so much so that you only know it if you’re a Laker or a former Laker.
Former Los Angeles Laker and NBA champion Kyle Kuzma praised the Lakers fanbase. Kuzma called the Laker fanbase ‘the best fanbase in the world,’ per Corey Hansford of Lakers Nation.
After facing his former team on Thursday night, Kuzma spoke to reporters and praised Laker faithful.
“It’s a lot different,” Kuzma said when asked about playing for a team other than the Lakers. “Especially when I came in, I was leading the team in scoring my rookie year. So it was a whirlwind, especially coming from Flint and coming from Utah.
“But this is the best fanbase in the world. They love their team, from one to 17. You feel it, you hear it, you see it online. It’s a tight-knit community here and if they love you, you’ll be global. And if they hate you, they’re gonna hate you too. You take it with it.”
The Laker faithful hasn’t always been kind to Kuzma. Nonetheless, there is no doubt he played an integral part in leading L.A. to title number 17.
Fans can sometimes be ruthless, but being in Washington, D.C., these last few years helped him realize what he’s been missing.
The Lakers drafted Kuzma in the second round of the 2017 NBA Draft. He came in guns ‘a’ blazing, tied for first in the team’s leader in points, and earned a spot in the All-Rookie First-team.
Kuzma’s time in L.A. was filled with some highs and some lows. However, his time as a Laker will never be forgotten. Once a Laker, always a Laker!
