Mauricio Pochettino has stated he’s not spoken directly to Chelsea’s owners for “months” as his job comes under increasing pressure.
The Blues hit a new low on Tuesday night losing 5-0 to Arsenal, their biggest defeat in any London derby since 1986.
That defeat came off the back of Chelsea’s FA Cup semi final defeat to Manchester City, meaning the club will go two consecutive seasons without silverware for the first time since 2003.
The Argentine admitted he hadn’t “crossed paths” with Todd Boehly, and the last face to face meeting with the club’s owners is believed to have been with Behdad Eghbali the day after the Carabao Cup final.
Communication with the ownership has been through Chelsea’s sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Lawrence Stewart.
Speaking ahead of the Aston Villa game the 52-year-old said: “To be honest, in the last few months, we didn’t cross, or message. We communicated through the sporting directors but nothing has changed.
“We are not changing my view or my feeling, even in the last few weeks we are not crossing texts.”
Pochettino again defended the Blues poor form this season and insisted everyone at the club is responsible, not just him.
“It looks like only I need to improve”, he added.
“It is always the coach who needs to improve to deserve to be here next season.
“We are all responsible for the situation and we all need to improve that we deserve to be here next season. That is a good question.”
The Blues face a season defining couple of games against Aston Villa and Tottenham knowing they need positive results in both games to stand any chance of qualifying for European football next season.
Chelsea currently sit ninth in the Premier League, three points behind Newcastle in seventh, and six behind Manchester United in sixth, having played a game less than their rivals.
