Dutch footballer Mark Diemers compared Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag with incoming Liverpool manager Arne Slot.
The Merseysiders and Feyenoord have come into an agreement for a £9.4million compensation package for Slot to replace Jurgen Klopp at the season’s close. Some may say Liverpool’s decision makers are making a brave move, as Slot, 45, has not yet managed a top-tier European team.
Nevertheless, Diemers’ personal experiences with Slot during his tenure at Feyenoord, which coincided with Diemers’ own two-year stint at the club, provide some promising insights for Reds fans. The midfielder also played a season under Ten Hag at Utrecht.
When questioned about the finest manager he had ever worked under during an interview with ESPN Netherlands, Diemers disclosed: “I choose Arne Slot. I can only talk from my time. I found Ten Hag insanely good tactically, so were his training sessions.”
“I just didn’t think he was very good, at that time, on a human level. But that was already six or seven years ago. I thought Slot was a lot stronger on a human level,” reports the Express.
