Despite his college achievements, Watson saw limited action in the Browns’ first two games, primarily playing on special teams. His departure leaves the team seeking reliable linebackers to complement reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett and Pro Bowl linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah.
The Browns’ front seven lacks depth beyond Garrett and Owusu-Koramoah. This vulnerability was exposed in Week 1 when they allowed 33 points to the Dallas Cowboys, a team with a subpar run game and lacking a true No. 2 wide receiver. However, they bounced back by holding the Jacksonville Jaguars to 13 points last weekend.
Looking ahead, the Browns face crucial games against the New York Giants (Sunday) and Las Vegas Raiders (next Sunday). Improving their linebacker corps will be essential to bolstering their defense. There’s a possibility Watson could rejoin the team as part of their practice squad, providing an opportunity for future development.
