The Arkansas Razorbacks volleyball team extended their conference record to 2-0 with a thrilling 3-0 sweep against the Ole Miss Rebels on Sunday. The match was a nail-biter, with the Hogs securing the win through sets of 29-27, 25-19, and 25-23.
Redshirt freshman Aniya Madkin led the team with 15 kills, while Olivia Ruiz added 12 kills with an impressive .385 hitting percentage. Senior setter Hannah Hogue recorded a double-double with 38 assists and 12 digs, accompanied by an ace. The Razorbacks’ defense shone with 19 digs from Courtney Jackson and 13 from Kylie Weeks.
The first set saw 20 ties and no lead greater than two points for either team. Arkansas broke away with back-to-back blocks, but Ole Miss stayed close, tying at 21- and 22-all. The Hogs ultimately took the set 29-27. In the second set, Arkansas opened with a 5-0 service run and maintained a significant lead, securing the set 25-19.
The third set was closely contested, with Ole Miss holding the lead midway. However, Arkansas tied it 18-18 after a timeout and eventually secured the set 25-23, sealing the match. Senior middle Zoi Evans contributed eight blocks and four kills. The Razorbacks now have a week off before facing the Oklahoma Sooners on October 6 in their first-ever SEC meeting, streaming live on SEC Network+.
