The Pittsburgh Steelers’ injury woes continue as right guard James Daniels has been placed on injured reserve due to a torn Achilles. The 27-year-old will miss the remainder of the 2024 season, dealing a significant blow to the team’s offensive line.
Daniels, a stalwart starter for the Steelers, had started 36 games over the past three seasons. His injury occurred just six snaps into Sunday’s loss to the Colts. Originally drafted by the Chicago Bears, Daniels had established himself as a reliable presence in Pittsburgh’s lineup.
In response to Daniels’ injury, the Steelers have made several roster moves. The team released safety Jalen Elliott and cornerback Darius Rush, who saw limited action on special teams. To bolster their offensive line, Pittsburgh signed guard Max Scharping off the Washington Commanders’ practice squad.
The Steelers also added linebacker Eku Leota and running back La’Mical Perine to their practice squad, while releasing fullback Jack Colletto and linebacker Marcus Haynes to make room for the new signings.
