Australian Olympic legend Alisa Camplin-Warner has made history as the country’s first female chef de mission for the Winter Games, leading the team at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympics. A two-time Winter Olympic medallist, Camplin-Warner brings invaluable experience and expertise to the role.
Camplin-Warner’s appointment comes on the heels of Australia’s impressive performance at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, where the team secured four medals. Building on this momentum, she aims to enhance Australia’s winter sports legacy. “I’m deeply grateful for this opportunity and thrilled to work with our winter sports, coaches, and athletes,” Camplin-Warner expressed.
As a pioneering athlete, Camplin-Warner became the first Australian woman to win Winter Olympic gold in Salt Lake City in 2002. She also secured a bronze medal in Turin in 2006, demonstrating her passion and dedication to winter sports.
The 2026 Milan-Cortina Games, scheduled from February 6-22, present an exciting challenge for Camplin-Warner and the Australian team. With 50 World Cup medals won across the 2023/24 winter sports season, expectations are high. Under Camplin-Warner’s leadership, Australia aims to continue its upward trajectory and achieve even greater success in the Italian Alps.
