New Josko Gvardiol stat emerges that will leave Mo Salah red-faced as Man City star…

Manchester City defender Josko Gvardiol was at it again against Wolves on Sunday.

Manchester City beat Wolves 2-1 at Molineux, scoring right at the death through John Stones. There was controversy about that due to the involvement of Bernardo Silva’s position in front of Jose Sa.

But the goal was given, and City went top of the league.

It was a tough day for City with Wolves defending well, and they will feel very downbeat about the end result.

But City showed character, and why they have been Premier League champions for four years running.

The late pressure was too much, and Pep Guardiola’s side march on.

City fans are now really starting to see the best of Gvardiol.

This time last year, he was still finding his feet after his big-money move from RB Leipzig.

But now he’s looking so consistent at left-back and against Wolves he was brilliant. Gvardiol pushed so high and was a real attacking threat.

And his equaliser was just superb, as he picked out the top corner with his so-called weak foot.

That was actually Gvardiol’s fifth goal away from home in 2024, which really is a tremendous return for someone in his position.

According to Stat Muse, he has actually now gone level with Liverpool forward Mo Salah – one of the Premier League’s best goalscorers – for away goals scored this calendar year.

Gvardiol is living up to his billing at City
It was a tough game for City at Molineux, but yet another great display from Gvardiol who is rapidly becoming one of City’s most consistent performers.

We all know by now that he has an eye for goal. And not just any old goal – his catalogue is really quite something.

Josko Gvardiol for Man City (all competitions)
    Appearances – 53
    Goals – 6
    Assists – 3
But Gvardiol just does so many things to a high standard. His control of the ball, his distribution, his carrying of it. And of course, he is solid when it comes to actual defending.

A lot of money was paid for Gvardiol. £77 million to be exact.

But we are really now starting to see why the club forked out so much money. Gvardiol is looking more and more at home in this team, and it’s scary to think he’s still about six years away from the start of his peak.
