Man City will continue their pursuit of the world’s biggest stars regardless of Pep Guardiola’s future, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke explained that multiple players have made the move to City because of the draw of playing under one of the world’s greatest managers.
However, it was also explained that thanks to Guardiola’s influence since he took over, City now command enough presence to attract players even without him.
There had been growing speculation about the boss’ future given the situation behind the scenes at the club, leading to questions about how they would deal with a possible exit.
However, this comes shortly following reports that Guardiola is considering committing to a one-year extension of his contract at the Etihad despite rumours surrounding an exit.
During his eight years at the club since 2016, superstar players such as Erling Haaland, Josko Gvardiol, Rodri and more have opted to join City ahead of some of Europe’s elite clubs in the race for their talents.
Guardiola has inevitably been a huge selling point for players to join the club, but their dominant success during his tenure has set the club up to continue in the future.
