Two-time Olympic gold medalist and six-time World Cup overall champion Mikaela Shiffrin revealed her primary motivation for continuing her illustrious career despite a devastating injury last season. In an exclusive interview, Shiffrin shared her unwavering dedication to the sport.

Shiffrin’s 2022-2023 campaign was marred by a serious knee injury, forcing her to reevaluate her future. The American skiing sensation tore her ACL and MCL in a training crash, leaving many to wonder if she would ever regain her dominance.

Shiffrin confessed that her love for skiing remains the driving force behind her continued pursuit of excellence. “I still have so much passion for the sport,” she emphasized. “I want to see how far I can push myself.”

Throughout her recovery, Shiffrin drew inspiration from her past experiences. “I’ve faced setbacks before, but I’ve always come back stronger,” she stated confidently. Her resilience has become a hallmark of her illustrious career.

Shiffrin’s primary objective is to reclaim her position atop the World Cup standings. “I want to prove to myself that I can still compete at the highest level,” she declared. Her sights are also set on the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina.

To overcome the mental and physical challenges, Shiffrin has worked tirelessly with her team to refine her mental approach. “Visualizing success and staying present” has become her mantra.

Shiffrin credited her support network, including family, coaches, and teammates, for their unwavering encouragement. “They believe in me, even when I doubt myself,” she said gratefully.

As one of skiing’s most decorated athletes, Shiffrin recognizes the significance of her continued presence. “I want to inspire the next generation,” she expressed. Her influence extends beyond the slopes.

Shiffrin’s journey serves as a testament to her unyielding spirit. With renewed determination, she embarks on the 2024-2025 season, poised to defy expectations and cement her status as one of skiing’s all-time greats.
