Hopkins’ decision to commit to Minnesota was influenced by the strong relationships he formed with the Golden Gophers’ coaching staff. “Every time I talked to another school, it just couldn’t compare to how I felt when I talked with the Minnesota coaches,” Hopkins told On3. The 247 Sports composite rankings list Hopkins as the No. 9 rated 2026 recruit in Tennessee, making him a highly coveted prospect. His commitment to Minnesota marks the third time a top-10 recruit from Tennessee has chosen to play for an out-of-state program.
